Conservative Judaism
Judaism In The US, Indiana, and Fort Wayne
The National Jewish Population Study provides some interesting statistics about the Jewish population of the US. Jews have been part of the fabric of our state for many years, and the Indiana Jewish Historical Society is dedicated to documenting this heritage. Closer to home, check out the Fort Wayne Jewish Federation. In addition to our congregation, Fort Wayne is also home to a Reform community - Congregation Achduth Vesholom.
Conservative Judaism
As a congregation, we recognize modern times create situations unimaginable before the common era. We try to "conserve" (and hence the term 'Conservative Judaism') traditions of Jewish worship and culture accumulated over the course of thousands of years while living in the common era.
To learn more about Conservative Judiasm, you might want to check out the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, the Rabinnical Assembly, and the Jewish Theological Seminary websites. There's also the Union For Traditional Judaism. For less theological and more practical information, check out Judaism 101.
Be cautioned there are many viewpoints held by the members of the movement, not all of which are in sync with the practices of our particular community. For a more "authoritative" answer, please bring your questions and concerns to our Rabbi.
