Pesach 2019 (5779)

Thursday, April 18
Bedikat Chametz* - after 8:52 p.m.
After the house has been thoroughly cleaned, a ceremonial search is performed for whatever "chametz" may remain. All chametz should have already been put away in cabinets, the garage or in some place where it can be marked and not be used, even by accident. The "chametz" found in the ceremony is burned on the following morning. This is called Biur Chametz. Biur Chametz completes the removal of all leavened products from our possession.

*Selling of Chametz form HERE.  Return to office or Rabbi by Thursday, April 11.

Kosher Around Town

Aldi's on Lima Road carries packaged crescent rolls, biscuits and pie crusts that are heckshered (marked Kosher). Very exciting news since no other store has the same items available for the Kosher consumer.

The new Fresh Thyme Farmer's Market on Coldwater at Coliseum has a nice selection of heckshered cakes, prepared foods and cheeses for the Kosher consumer as well.

Earth Fare on Dupont Road has kosher turkey during the holidays and can special order other meats.  Call Shawn, the meat manager, at 260-416-3550 for more information.

The Kroger Marketplace at Coventry no longer has Kosher meat. Kroger does carry small containers of Pareve coffee whitener (Rich's) in the frozen food section.

Gordon's Food Service on Washington Center Road carries Pareve whip topping (Rich's) in the frozen food section.  GFS also carries red and green food containers from Cambro with blue available by order.  These containers can be used, according to color, for kosher purposes of separating meat, milk, and Pareve products.

Please support all of these stores in their efforts to help the Jewish community of Fort Wayne.
